Story of Shinya Shokudo

Where every ingredient tells a story.

“Shinya Shokudo” translates to Midnight Diner in English and originates from a well-known Japanese manga.

“Shinya Shokudo” translates to Midnight Diner in English and originates from a well-known Japanese manga.

The manga highlights tasty meals being made, served, and consumed by customers who tell their stories of living in a time of social crises, inequality, and more. Although the food offered at this small restaurant hidden in an obscure alley was limited to one item, the Master Chef would readily cook anything to order.

His kindness and willingness to listen have made his restaurant a gathering place for a band of eccentric down-and-out regulars who have witnessed and experienced different aspects of life.

These enchanting tales add flavor to the Master Chef’s simple yet conceivably delicious meals, creating a wholesome and satisfying experience. We would like to make Shinya Shokudo a place of comfort, an escape, a patient ear, and a sense of home where nostalgia is brought to life with friends and family around.

Yakitori

Yakitori (grilled skewers) is the origin of Japanese fast food. At Shinya Shokudo, we strive to bring the best quality ingredient. We love to help our guests understand that yakitori is more than just a grilled chicken skewered onto a bamboo stick over an open-fire grill. A variety of seasoning pairs best with different flavors and parts of the meats offered.

As you reach the inner parts of the meat, you increase the depth of flavor. The best part about eating yakitori is that there are no rules on enjoying them! We have also catered our menu towards non-meat eaters by adding mushroom, tofu, zucchini yakitori, and more!
